Plans for an office building with a ‘timber superstructure”, the first of its kind in Maidenhead and the wider Thames Valley, have been submitted.

Designed by Waugh Thistleton Architects for HUB Residential, the project is named Trehus, after the Norwegian phrase for “house of wood”.

It’s set to be a highly sustainable building, targeting net-zero carbon emissions, BREEAM Outstanding and WELL Platinum certifications. The building will be set within a landscaped public square, with a roof terrace, outdoor seating and rain gardens which are designed to absorb water which runs off patios and roofs.

Trehus is part of the wider One Maidenhead project, a 3.5-acre mixed-use site previously known as “The Landing”.

Development Director Victoria Manston said: "The use of timber will result in a building that is both elegant and highly sustainable, in line with HUB's strategy of reducing embodied carbon across our portfolio".

HUB predicts that using a timber frame should result in a 40 per cent reduction in embodied carbon.
