The Planet Mark Launches Net-Zero Certification Programme

The Planet Mark Launches Net-Zero Certification Programme
30 January 2025

ThisWeekinFM Partner Planet Mark has launched its accessible net-zero programme for businesses.

Recognised by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) as a Cooperative Climate Initiative, the programme hopes the provide the expertise needed for businesses to accelerate their net-zero journey, from setting targets to developing actionable strategies.

The certification process is divided into four levels:

  • Level One – Measuring the Full Carbon Footprint: This initial step involves assessing Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 carbon emissions to establish a baseline.
  • Level Two – Transition Planning: With the baseline established, businesses can set realistic near-term and long-term net zero targets and develop a transition plan to achieve them.
  • Level Three – Progress Tracking: Annual reports help to monitor progress against set targets, to determine the readiness to advance to the next certification level.
  • Level Four – Achieving and Maintaining Net Zero: Upon reaching long-term targets and neutralising residual emissions through carbon removal offsets, businesses attain the "Net Zero Achieved" certification.

Planet Mark will introduce the programme in a webinar "Achieving Net Zero: How and Why Your Organisation Must Act Now" on 12 February, 2025.
