The Environment Analyst global ranking of environmental and sustainability consultancy businesses has been published.
The list is based on figures from the 2020/21 financial year, data from surveys and interviews, consulting revenue and staff numbers.
Environmental sustainability consulting (E&S) is defined as including any activity that "provides specialist technical, management, risk and strategic advisory services to help organisations understand, manage, and limit their impacts, to protect and enhance the environment and society in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals”.
Each firm is classified under one of three categories: E&S specialist, mid-range multidisciplinary, or large-scale integrated/ multidisciplinary professional services.
For the first time, the top four accounting and auditing firms (EY, Deloitte, KPMG, and PwC) and the top three management consultancies (Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Company, and McKinsey) feature in the rankings.
