Read Full ArticleCity Facilities Management has started working for Marks & Spencer - a major contract where nothing but a sterling job is expected.
City, who claim to be the UK’s largest privately owned FM company, will be working across 650 retails stores, offices and distribution sites which sees the company oust ABM UK (as first reported in ThisWeekinFM) and extend the range of the contract. The partnership will see City provide all of M&S’ building and service maintenance supported by a dedicated 24/7 helpdesk. The FM company will also deploy Mercury, an in house developed computer aided facilities management (CAFM) system, across the project.
Staffing
580 direct employees (comprising about 450 as part of a TUPE arrangement and 130 new recruits) will join City along with 200 suppliers to offer a blend of self-delivery and sub-contracted service provision.
Transformation
Ian Moore, head of store development and facilities management for M&S said: “As part of our transformation efforts we will be partnering with City to deliver a more efficient approach to facilities management.
“City’s experience and CAFM system will improve maintenance service levels across our stores, distribution sites and offices helping us to deliver a better shopping experience for our customers.”
M&S has announced a 'transformation' schedule that will see it close stores around the country to focus on a mix of flagship and smaller 'express-type' outlets.
Integration
Michael Hughes, CEO for City Facilities Management said:
“This is a fantastic opportunity to extend our retail footprint with one of world’s leading brands. Not only will City’s integrated services provide a dedicated, response to M&S’ maintenance needs, we will also work hand in hand with in house teams and sub-contractors to provide a seamless approach to our delivery."
