Read Full ArticleGeoff Prudence explains how you can develop your FM skills pipeline in the heart of the city of London.
Geoff is an instantly recognisable leader and Director in the FM industry and is particularly known for actively championing the need for effective maintenance strategies, workable designs and driving improved standards of delivery in the built environment. He has led numerous industry activities, panels, boards, improvement initiatives and is the long-standing Chair of CIBSE Facilities Management and ThisWeekinFM's Editorial Advisory Board Chair.
The conversation prior to the pandemic, which continues now things are returning to a "new normal", continually focusses on “Where is the next generation of facilities managers coming from?” and “Where can I develop my team to improve their skills and experience, whilst retaining them within the company?”
Well, a number of larger FM providers do have organisational training programmes aligned to external qualifications, but there is a vast number that need and want development training in FM.
The Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) has recognised training/qualifications for all levels of the FM Industry, aligned to entry-level facilities assistants/helpdesk level through to Senior FMs and above. These qualifications and courses are available throughout the UK and beyond. But where can you study them to align with the business needs and learners' own requirements?
One such niche approved IWFM centre is the College of Central London (CCL), which as well as IWFM accredited Courses runs tailored FM courses, business qualifications and specific/individual training sessions and coaching for the facilities management industry. The key differentiator being that it is located in the heart of the City of London, so is particularly appealing for those living, studying and particularly working in London in FM.
As well as a successful pass rate, many previous students have gone on to attain FM positions or progress further in their career, following successful completion of courses at CCL. A key recognised factor of CCL is that as well as achieving required qualifications, CCL believes in providing a supportive learning environment that also enhances student personal skills and Industry awareness.
Whilst the COVID-19 pandemic has meant that delivery has moved to online or blended learning, CCL with its proximity and relationships with the City of London continues to grow and provide training to students throughout the UK and internationally.
For more details on the range of courses, qualifications and training available, contact CCL on 020 3667 7607 or email fm@central-college.com
