Floodex Irrigex Show – Peterborough Arena

15 February 2019

IRRIGEX, the event for the UK irrigation industry will run alongside FLOODEX. The event is at Peterborough Arena, East of England Showground on February 27-28.

70% of flooding is caused by surface water, so this event is relevant to people both in urban areas, as well as rural. The new laws coming in, developers and owners of commercial and residential properties, need to be aware of their responsibilities, as well as the best way to mitigate flooding from surface water run-off.

A speech by Sir James Bevan KCMG in October put forward some harsh truths about the challenges facing developers and communities regarding managing surface water and the associated flood risks.

"Designing in resilience is about a lot more than SuDS. It means starting far upstream in the planning process so that new developments are themselves laid out in ways which reduce surface water and other risks."

A sustainable drainage system (SuDS) is designed to reduce the potential impact of new and existing developments with respect to surface water drainage discharges.

What’s New At Floodex

Newly Formed Association To Hold Innaugral Conference At Floodex

The Association of SuDS Authorities is a newly form body, specifically for professionals working with Local Authorities. The Association will be officially launched at FLOODEX and the first annual conference will help to mark this occasion, attracting a very important audience.

Floodex Teams Up With UK Irrigation Association To Create Irrigex

As there is a crossover of interest in the management of water, we have teamed up the UKIA, who have moved their annual conference to form part of the overall event This will give suppliers and end users, interested in irrigation, a platform where they can meet face to face and come away much better informed and equipped to deal with their respective issues.

The events are heavily supported and the only ones in the UK run in partnership with the Association of Drainage Authorities, Association of SuDS Authorities and the UK Irrigation Association.

The presentation programme includes speakers from Defra, Environment Agency, National Infrastructure Commission, CIWEM and many others; see the website for full list of exhibitors and speakers.
