Read Full ArticleThis month, companies such as Amey, Medirest and ABM UK have all won industry awards for key achievements made over the last year.
In a virtual ceremony held on 17 March 2021, Amey and HMPPS won the Premises and Facilities Management (PFM) Partnership Award for Corporate Social Responsibility, whilst Business Moves Group (BMG) won the Partners in Relocation award for its work with Aviva.
The PFM Partnership Awards recognise the essential requirements in forging effective partnerships in the FM industry and have been running since 2007.
Amey undertakes facilities management within 58 sites across the HMPPS estate and the pair have been recognised for the work they are doing to help support prisoner rehabilitation via the Clean, Rehabilitative, Enabling and Decent (CRED) programme.
The CRED programme, which is currently implemented within 20 prisons maintained by Amey allows residents to gain work experience while serving their sentences - helping them develop new skills and improve employability and wellbeing. The programme also contributes to better living standards and promotes a clean environment for both offenders and employees.
BMG first started working with Aviva to deliver the physical element moves with the rest being handled in-house. The partnership following a detailed review of in-house moves management, with BMG offering a highly-flexible model that improved efficiency and reduced costs. Since then, BMG has supported Aviva with a number of workplace and change management projects.
Together, BMG and Aviva implemented a resilience plan to ensure continuity of customer service across all business functions. This was vital in keeping people together during times of isolation and uncertainty.
Medirest, healthcare division of food and support services company, Compass Group UK & Ireland, has won Best National Support for Key Workers at the Springboard Awards for Excellence.
Leading industry charity, Springboard, has a vision to futureproof the hospitality talent pipeline, and recruit, train and prepare 10,000 young people to enter the industry by 2022. ‘Best National Support for Key Workers’ is one of a number of honours added to this year’s Springboard Awards to mark the unprecedented circumstances faced by the hospitality industry over the last year. Judges looked at how businesses stepped up to support their key workers and the impact it had on a national level.
During the pandemic, Medirest was one of the first to acknowledge its frontline, who work shoulder to shoulder with the NHS workforce, by awarding a six-week bonus to its frontline employees and supervisors. A permanent wage increase to match the NHS Agenda for Change rate of pay shortly followed, and alongside functional support – medical helpline, financial aid fund, enhanced Employee Assistance Programme and welfare calls – care boxes and treat packages were also gifted. A campaign to recognise Medirest ‘Healthcare Heroes’ was also launched last year to acknowledge some of the amazing stories from across the business.
ABM UK’s annual Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) security audit has placed the facilities solutions provider into the top five per cent of accredited security companies in the UK.
Chris Middleton, at ABM UK commented: “Receiving this exclusive membership; reserved for the top SIA-approved security companies in the UK is a great distinction. At a time when all businesses have faced extraordinary challenges, this is a reflection of the agility and talent of the security team.”
“This, alongside five industry best practices which were awarded by the auditor provided our team with an enormous boost.”
