Improving Carbon Efficiency While Delivering Sustained Growth

Peartree Cleaning Services, a provider of cleaning services in the UK, has published its 2024/2025 ESG Report, demonstrating measurable year-on-year progress, improved carbon efficiency and sustained business growth, alongside independently validated environmental and governance milestones.
The independently verified report confirms total organisational emissions of 1,329 tCO₂e, representing a 6.32% year-on-year reduction, while revenue increased by 7.91% over the same period. Emissions per £m of turnover fell by 13.18% and emissions per full-time employee reduced by 9.89%, evidencing structural improvements in carbon efficiency across the business.
Scope 3 emissions, which account for 97.53% of the company’s footprint, reduced by 6.65% year-on-year, reflecting strengthened supplier engagement, smarter workforce planning and improved operational efficiency.
Following last year’s formal commitment to science-based targets, Peartree’s carbon reduction pathway has now been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative SBTi, confirming alignment with climate science and global efforts to limit warming in line with the Paris Agreement.
The business also achieved EcoVadis Gold rating in 2025, placing Peartree among the top tier globally for ESG performance, alongside securing Neutral Carbon Zone Gold Certification for the second consecutive year, reinforcing the credibility of its Scope 1, 2 and 3 reporting processes.
Environmental progress in 2024/2025 reflects continued advancement:
- Fleet transition progressed from 95% electric last year to 98% electric, with a commitment to reach 100% EV by the end of 2026.
- 33.93% reduction in waste year-on-year.
- 42 cobotic cleaning machines deployed across the portfolio, reducing water and energy usage.
- Solar panel installation and expanded EV charging infrastructure at Head Office.
The report builds on last year’s 88% reduction in single-use plastics, with further expansion of the water-free SoluDose range. By removing diluted ready-to-use chemicals from sites, Peartree continues to reduce packaging waste, transport emissions and on-site chemical handling while maintaining high cleaning standards.
Social value delivery remains consistent and measurable. Peartree again delivered 364 volunteering hours, generating £111,838 in social value, equivalent to £136 per employee. Inclusive employment initiatives have expanded further, including strengthened partnerships supporting individuals with lived experience of homelessness and continued local recruitment to reduce commuting emissions while strengthening community employment.
Governance structures have matured year-on-year, with quarterly ESG performance reviews embedded, deeper supplier carbon data integration and enhanced client transparency through the Peartree 360 dashboard platform.
This year, Peartree’s priorities include completing the transition to a fully electric fleet, deepening supplier carbon data integration, expanding social value partnerships and further enhancing client ESG reporting aligned with SBTi and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Brad Reames, Managing Director of Peartree Cleaning, said: “Last year was about building robust foundations. This year is about proving performance. We are reducing emissions, strengthening governance and investing in innovation, while continuing to grow.”
Reames concluded: “Our ESG strategy is designed to support clients, protect long-term value and ensure Peartree remains resilient, competitive and responsible as we continue to scale.”
