Mitie's ESG Report Showcases The Power Of Skills, Opportunity And Community Impact

Mitie has published its 2026 ESG Report, Pathways to Sustainable Futures, highlighting progress across its environmental, social and governance commitments. The report marks the first full year of delivery under Plan Thrive, Mitie's social value strategy, which has already uplifted 265,000 lives and delivered social value in 404 places across the UK.

A year after launching Plan Thrive, Mitie is already making strong progress towards its ambition to uplift one million lives and enable 1,000 places to prosper by 2030. The business supported more than 1,800 apprentices across more than 120 programmes with more than £7.5m of funding, helping colleagues build new skills, progress their careers and access new opportunities.

Through the Mitie Foundation's Ready2Work programme, a scheme that offers work experience, training and interview preparation to help people into sustained employment, the business also supported 138 people facing barriers into work, including care leavers, prison leavers, veterans and people experiencing homelessness, with more than half securing a job.

Community impact remains central to Plan Thrive. During the year, colleagues contributed more than 35,700 volunteering hours, substantially exceeding the company's target of 25,000 hours. From delivering maintenance and improvements at local schools to supporting foodbanks and community organisations, colleagues shared their skills and helped raise £90,000 for good causes across the UK.

Mitie was also named a UK Top Employer for the eighth consecutive year, while Mitie Cleaning & Environmental Services received a Royal Warrant by Appointment to His Majesty King Charles III in recognition of services delivered to the Royal Household.

Mitie has retained its position on the CDP Climate A List for a third consecutive year and was named overall winner of the Sustainable Facilities Management Index for a second successive year.

The business also achieved an effectively Net Zero position for Scope 1 and 2 emissions on a market-based basis, expanded its electric vehicle fleet to more than 6,400 vehicles and increased recycling rates to 66%, while maintaining zero waste to landfill across sites.

Through its Plan Zero – Decarbonisation, Delivered programme, Mitie is also helping customers cut their own emissions, from large-scale energy and fleet projects to on-site renewable generation.

This year's ESG Report has been published in a fully digital, machine-readable format, making it easier for customers, investors, suppliers and other stakeholders to access and use ESG information, supporting a more accessible and data-driven approach to sustainability reporting.

Peter Dickinson, Chief Legal Officer, Mitie, said: "Creating a sustainable future starts with people. Through apprenticeships, skills development, volunteering and community partnerships, our colleagues are helping to create opportunities and make a positive difference every day.”

Dickinson continued: “One year on from launching Plan Thrive, we're proud of the progress we've made, not only for our own colleagues and communities, but in helping our customers deliver social value and reach their own goals. We're committed to building on that momentum as we continue our own journey to Net Zero.”
