Read Full ArticleISS UK & Ireland has announced its new net-zero strategy – to reach net-zero for scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 and identify and measure scope 3 emissions by 2022.
On the eve of World Environment Day 2021, ISS anticipates achieving net-zero on its 2019 baseline by initiating the following key actions:
The net-zero strategy for ISS UK & Ireland will also address other actions to minimise carbon emissions and offsetting any residual emissions will be the last resort in order to achieve a net-zero footprint.
Liz Benison, CEO, ISS UK & Ireland stated: “At ISS in the UK & Ireland, we have made great progress in delivering energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions both for our own organisation and for our customers. We in facilities management must however lead by example and do more. Therefore, to achieve net-zero for our own emissions is our next responsible action and is aligned with the global strategy for ISS worldwide. The future is in our hands as we continue to connect people with places to make the world work better.”
ISS UK & Ireland has begun the identification and measurement of scope 3 emissions and is committed to establishing a baseline for all categories by 2022. With this in place, ISS can set further action plans, reduction targets and align targets at a global level to ensure we reach our goal as a global organisation.
Tim Proctor, Director of Health, Safety, Environment, Quality & Corporate Responsibility UK & Ireland, ISS UK, commented, “Sustainable service performance is a core pillar of our corporate responsibly strategy at ISS UK & Ireland. By launching our own net-zero strategy on World Environment Day, we are making a clear statement on our position to create a strategy that supports the world we live in. And in doing so, share the ambitious targets and bold actions on climate change expected of us by all of our stakeholders - from our customers & investors though to our communities.”
