Read Full ArticleMitie is to partner with Totalmobile to integrate a new smart locker feature for workplace deliveries into Mitie’s Pinpoint platform.
The feature, from Totalmobile, a Field Service Management software solutions provider, means staff can collect deliveries when it best suits them, removing needless face-to-face interaction, essential when allowing for social distancing in the workplace. It also keeps confidential items completely secure while awaiting collection.
Created seven years ago, Pinpoint is Mitie’s main platform in helping its customers deliver mailroom objectives for parcel delivery. Having recently been integrated with a new smart locker application, Pinpoint can transform the way deliveries are made to employees and businesses.
Pinpoint’s latest feature allows it to connect with smart lockers, facilitating seamless and secure deliveries that can be collected at the recipient’s convenience.
The built-in workflow enables either external or internal deliveries to be logged via Pinpoint; an API is called for locker availability and an appropriate locker is allocated. Once the locked is opened and closed for drop-off, a message is then immediately sent to the recipient to inform them that their delivery is ready to be collected with the necessary access details.
With the smart locker application now deployed, multiple deliveries can be made at once, without the need for numerous visits across one site. Mailroom staff no longer need to deliver multiple parcels at different times each day and are afforded more time to focus on adding further value to customers.
Pat Fox, Director, Document Management, Mitie said: “Since integrating our smart lockers into Pinpoint we can now offer a smarter approach to our mailroom logistics. Our operations teams are able to work more effectively, as they’re no longer spending unnecessary time trying to redeliver the same items, and more safely, as person-to-person contact has been reduced.”
“We are proud to be working with Mitie and supporting their clients by providing an extra level of flexibility that makes their working lives easier,” comments Nick Jeffreys, MD of Property and Facilities Management at Totalmobile. “Not only does the Pinpoint smart locker integration keep delivered items secure while awaiting collection, but it makes the entire process completely seamless, straightforward and user friendly. It benefits everyone involved.”
