10 Years of Driving FM Excellence and the Future of Consultancy.
An interview with Oren Gershon, Founder, OMGC.

In an industry where the human element is often overshadowed by budgets and bottom lines, Oren Gershon, Founder and Managing Director of OMGC, is making a clear case for a different approach.

As OMGC celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, Gershon reflects on a decade of challenging the status quo in FM, Property and Procurement Consultancy.

A Foundation Built on Real-World Experience

Gershon’s journey to founding OMGC was born from personal frustration. With over 25 years of experience on the client side - including roles in local government and the education sector - he often found himself heavily managing the very consultants hired to support him.

“I was getting quite frustrated in that I was having to lead them so much and support them so much,” Gershon explains. This experience became the catalyst for OMGC. He envisioned a consultancy driven by quality, value, and experience, where senior-level expertise is the standard rather than an occasional oversight.

From Strategy to Savings

OMGC's impact is best seen through its diverse portfolio of successful projects. Gershon highlights a transformative 5-year property strategy for a major utility business. By shifting their operating model and moving to a 50% outsourced structure, OMGC helped the client achieve savings exceeding £100 million over five years, while contributing to a £10 million EBITDA saving in the first year alone.

In another instance, OMGC supported a client through multiple acquisitions, centralising procurement for 11 factories. This initiative not only saved 28% on workwear contracts but also significantly enhanced the quality and lifespan of the equipment provided to staff.

The OMGC Difference: Transparency and Senior Expertise

What truly sets OMGC apart is its commitment to an ethical and client-focused business model. Unlike many large firms that rely on supplier rebates or "pay-to-play" approved lists, OMGC maintains a 100% client-focused fee structure.

“We don’t charge any fees or rebates to suppliers. Our fee is paid by the client to give the client the best result,” says Gershon. This transparency ensures that OMGC’s advice remains unbiased and entirely aligned with the client’s best interests. Furthermore, OMGC ensures that clients work directly with experienced professionals and freelancers, avoiding the common "bait-and-switch" where senior partners win the bid but junior staff perform the daily delivery.

Growth and Continued Innovation

As OMGC enters its second decade, the focus is on significant growth, with a target of reaching £5 million in revenue within three years. This expansion includes bringing more top-tier industry talent on board, such as Joe Harrison, formerly of Point72.

In an economy where businesses are increasingly scrutinising their budgets, Gershon believes the need for experienced, "cradle-to-grave" consultancy has never been greater. OMGC doesn't just offer advice; they partner with clients from initial strategy through to final delivery, ensuring that efficiency and quality go hand-in-hand.

For businesses looking to optimise their property and FM portfolios, Gershon’s message is simple: “Let’s just have an open conversation because when we’re looking at the amount of money we can save you... we think we can certainly help you”.
