What a Stick in the Mud

25 August 2015 | Updated 01 January 1970

A new 4by4 owner got more than he bargained for when he got stuck in mud this week in Chiswick, west London.

Firefighters from the London Fire Brigade used mud paths to reach the stranded driver and passenger and safely bring them back to dry land.

“It appears that the driver wanted to show off his new car but got into trouble when his four-wheel drive got stuck in mud,” explained Gareth Cook, Station Manager. “We safely rescued the pair and the car was recovered by a road recovery service. The incident shows that it’s not just fires that we deal with and our advice to anyone deciding to go off road is to make sure they check their vehicle can deal with the terrain.”

The Fire Brigade was called to the watery event at 1:57pm and the embarrassing incident for the Chelsea Tractor couple was over at 2:42pm

Picture:   WET! WET! WET! Proof positive that 4x4s are not amphibious. The Fire Brigade saved the driver and passenger but not their blushes.
