Artic Building Services has been awarded the hard facilities management contract for the British Medical Association, at its Grade II listed HQ building, in Tavistock Square, London.
The 5-year contract was awarded through a tender process conducted by the British Medical Association (BMA) and their facilities management consultant.
The British Medical Association (BMA) is the non-governmental professional body for doctors and allied medical professionals in the UK.
The contract win follows news of Artic’s additional hard FM contract for the European HQ London office of video games developer Square Enix at 240 Blackfriars.
“The Artic proposals offered highly competent engineering and management of the BMA assets with a closely personal and collaborative approach which had been missing from the previous service provision.”

Maintenance to SFG20 Guidelines
Artic proposed the delivery of mechanical & electrical services providing maintenance to SFG20 guidelines and other important items of specialist compliance maintenance.
Artic will provide three residential engineers to cover all planned, preventative maintenance and reactive works managed by a site-dedicated contract management and administration team.
Focus on the Reduction of the Overall Environmental Impact of BMA’s HQ
As part of the tender, the BMA specified a service delivery which could be relied upon to maintain and extend the smooth operation of the building’s plant and to ensure full compliance with all relevant UK legislation.
During the tender process, it also focussed on how Artic can support BMA to deliver a more sustainable future, aiming to work in partnership with the organisation on energy-saving initiatives.
Derek Parker, Head of Business Development at Artic explained: “BMA were looking for a partner to develop a condition-based approach to their maintenance regime with the consequential reduction of the overall environmental impact of the BMA House.
“The Artic proposals offered highly competent engineering and management of the BMA assets with a closely personal and collaborative approach which had been missing from the previous service provision.
Ian Wade, Head of UK Estates for the British Medical Association, said “We welcome the change in service provider to Artic Building Services. We are looking forward to working with them in improving the service provision to our Estate and supporting in our energy and sustainability plans over the coming years.”
