Read Full ArticleFollowing Andrew Geens’ retirement, CIBSE Certification Ltd has appointed Sebastian Gray as its new Head.
Andrew started at CIBSE Certification in 2011 as a QA manager and took over as Head of Certification in July of that year.
Since then, the personnel certification scheme market has evolved, the number of bodies operating within have shrunk and new schemes launched. As Head, Andrew achieved a stable EPBD Scheme, the largest UK ESOS Register, and a diversification into Management Systems Certification.
CIBSE Certification as a whole has continued to maintain a place in the EPBD non-domestic market and been at the core of developing better ways of auditing and ensuring the quality of energy certificates.
As the new Head, Sebastian has spent the past ten years running energy management consultancy 2EA Consulting, which focused on providing advice and implementation of energy legislation to a range of organisations including FTSE listed companies, SMEs, public sector organisations and charities.
He has over 14 years experience in marketing, communication, business development and 10 years in the built environment, energy policy, energy management, energy taxation and auditing. Sebastian also has experience in charity and NGO work.
Sebastian intends to continue maintaining CIBSE Certification's personnel schemes and, where feasible, expanding into new areas as markets develop. Andrew Geens, the outgoing head, has built a solid foundation for which the organisation can continue to expand its IMS business.
At an industry level, Sebastian will continue to promote the wider use of energy certificates in government initiatives to improve the energy performance of buildings, regardless of the continued political changes in this country.
He is also working with Phil Jones and BEIS on developing a new technical heat network scheme. This fits in well with CIBSE Certification's already established Heat Networks Consultant Scheme.
CIBSE Certification Ltd is a subsidiary of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE). CIBSE Certification operates Personnel Certification Schemes covering:
They are also UKAS accredited and certify Management Systems ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and ISO 45001 globally and have clients in the UK, Europe, USA and Middle East.
