The popularity of podcasts is also set to increase, with forecasts predicting close to 20 million listeners by 2024.
As well as providing light relief, a companion to exercise or a welcome addition to the morning commute, podcasts can also be used for education, or as part of a personal development plan.
Whether you’re an experienced podcast subscriber or a newbie, here are five podcasts to get you started, all related to the workplace and the wider built environment
Produced by podcast giant Wondery, WeCrashed is the story of a unicorn office space company, a failed IPO, and its plan to revolutionise the workplace experience.
This six-part podcast series takes the listener through WeWork’s story, covering how the company’s planned initial public offering collapsed when investors rejected its $20 billion valuation. The series also covers the resignation of WeWork’s CEO Adam Neumann.

Run by the Emerging Workplace Leaders group, Chat FM is billed as a place to learn about everything to do with leadership in FM by hearing from various voices throughout the industry.
Each week, the Co-Chair of the Emerging Workplace Leaders and Operations Director for the Churchill Group, Phil Matis, is joined by sector professionals to discuss topics such as digitisation of the industry, robotics and recruitment.
EMEX, the net-zero and energy management expo has released several of its 2021 seminars as a podcast series.
The series aims to support the collective ambition to accelerate the race to net-zero and features highlights including insights from The King’s Cross Estate and how government property is looking to decarbonise its estate.
Run alongside the Female Frontiers: Powered by WAN Awards, this podcast gives a voice to inspirational women in the global architecture arena, operating at all levels in the industry.
