Mitie Gives Extra Day’s Holiday To 25,000 Frontline Employees
15 September 2020

As a gesture of thanks for the work of their frontline colleagues during COVID-19, Mitie is awarding its staff an extra day of holiday.

The company is also offering life assurance policies, free flu vaccinations for those outside of the government’s vaccination programme, and an online GP consultation service.

These benefits have been introduced to extend Mitie employees’ access to additional health and wellbeing support.

“These new benefits are a token of our appreciation to our colleagues who have been working tirelessly to keep Mitie and the UK running during this Coronavirus pandemic.”

Life Assurance Policies for Fixed-Term Employees

Mitie as a company has been involved in many elements of keeping the UK running during the pandemic. As well as its commercial cleaning services arm, Mitie has also set up drive-in test centres and provided FM services to the Nightingale Hospitals.

Additional new benefits for staff include free access to a virtual GP service for all permanent and fixed-term employees. Provided via Medical Solutions, the service is also available to all members of employees’ households and offers unlimited GP consultations by phone or video during their employment with Mitie.

As the winter approaches, all Mitie employees – that are not eligible for the UK Government’s extended flu vaccination programme – will be offered free flu vaccinations. Those entitled to the Government’s vaccination programme will receive guidance on how to access the vaccination scheme.

Mitie is also providing life assurance for all permanent and fixed-term employees, where a minimum lump sum payment of £10,000 will be paid to the employee’s nominated beneficiary.

Jasmine Hudson, HR Director, Group and Specialist Services, Mitie, said:

“These new benefits are a token of our appreciation to our colleagues who have been working tirelessly to keep Mitie and the UK running during this Coronavirus pandemic. We want to say a huge thank you to our people, whether they are working on the frontline, or in offices, kitchens or living rooms. With these new, industry-leading, benefits we’re doing everything we can to look after our colleagues during these challenging times.”
