Real Estate & FM Integration - Cargo Co Goes Global

29 May 2019

Cargotec Oyj, a global cargo handling equipment supplier, has appointed CBRE GWS to gradually integrate real estate services and facility management in up to 250 sites, spanning EMEA, Asia-Pacific and the Americas.

The portfolio, which comes to 615,000sq.m, includes a mix of production sites, offices and research sites, across all the business areas of the Finnish firm.

Cargotec's brands include Kalmar which produces massive lifting equipment for ports, Hiab which produces handling equipment for the road transportation industry and MacGregor which has its own brands (MacGregor, Hatlapa, Porsgrunn, Pusnes, Triplex and Flintstone) offering offshore and marine engineering solutions and services.

With headquarters in Helsinki, Cargotec operates in more than 100 countries and employs around 12,000 people globally.

Transparency and simplicity

According to both parties, the agreement is an expansion of an existing relationship around real estate portfolio, optimisation and transactions - this time with the integration between facility management and real estate providing Cargotec with greater transparency and simplicity, as well as implementing global best practices to drive cost efficiency.

Johanna Ihalainen, Vice President, Corporate Real Estate at Cargotec, said: “Our objective is to create an integrated global service solution for facility management and for transaction services. We have both high expectations and strong confidence on CBRE’s experience and capabilities to deliver the results.

"We believe a global provider will bring savings through their expertise and supplier base. A partnership model ensures transparency on local and global level and improved data reporting allows control and data-driven decision making. We are eagerly waiting to realise the aforementioned benefits.”

Sebastian Beronius CEO for CBRE Finland & Sweden said: “This new contract will allow for deeper collaboration with our client, helping us to deliver an integrated service across the real estate portfolio.”
