PTSG have completed an emergency access and safety project at London's BT Tower; Incentive QAS have been awarded a contract at One Canada Square by Canary Wharf Management; and OCS and Engie have taken deals at HM Courts & Tribunals Service. We've got a bumper FM Digest.

PTSG Answers Emergency Call From Staff At Bt Tower

Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) have completed an access and safety project at BT Tower, just hours after receiving the call.

Staff at BT Tower contacted PTSG as they were staging a charity abseil at the building the following day and needed to have their anchor points inspected to ensure they were safe and fit for purpose.

Specialists from PTSG Building Access Specialists Ltd were able to attend site within a few hours, test and tag the bolts and have the certification sent across without delay. The client was delighted with the work and the speed with which it was completed, giving them complete peace of mind.

BT Tower is the iconic communications structure situated in Fitzrovia, London and owned by the BT Group. The main structure is 177 metres (581ft) high, with a further section of aerial rigging bringing the total height to 191 metres (627ft).

With 29 UK office locations and over 1,300 specialist staff, PTSG has acquired a leading reputation for being able to mobilise its operatives to attend sites at short notice. In addition to access and safety work, the Group also delivers specialist electrical services, high-level cleaning and a wide range of fire solutions for 20,000 customers UK-wide.

Heading For Canada

Following a competitive tender Incentive QAS, the specialist cleaning arm of Incentive FM Group, has been awarded a landmark contract at One Canada Square by Canary Wharf Management.

The three year contract is worth around £4 million.

Under the terms of the deal Incentive QAS will be responsible for the cleaning of all common areas, washrooms and lift lobbies across all 50 floors of the 770ft  multi-tenanted building. This includes responsibility for the lobby which is 36ft (11m) high and clad in 90,000 square feet (8,000sq.m) of marble and has a restaurant and bar.

Other services provided by Incentive QAS will include all waste segregation for the building tenants plus secure shredding.

A team of 40+ full time employees will operate 24/7 to ensure that the 10,000 people who work in the building, along with members of the general public that have access to the ground floor, foyer area and basement levels can enjoy a clean and safe environment.  This will include a dedicated periodic team which will provide ongoing specialist cleaning to specific areas.

A highly experienced manager will be onsite daily with regular support from senior management and directors of Incentive QAS.

Incentive QAS will also be providing a range of cleaning services for the Canary Wharf Group head office which is located in the building.

PTSG Works At Legendary London Address

PTSG are nearing completion on a large and challenging project at 80 Charlotte Street, London - a brand-new mixed-use development scheme in the capital’s Fitzrovia district.

The new building will deliver 320,000 square feet of workspace, 55 new apartments, a café, restaurant and the new Poets Park on Chitty Street. Engineers from PTSG are installing abseil track systems, fitted both within the building and externally, offering access for building and window maintenance.

80 Charlotte Street was the home of Saatchi & Saatchi for over 40 years. The company produced some of the most famous advertisements of all time in the UK.

OCS wins HM Courts & Tribunals Service

OCS, the international facilities management services company, has been appointed by the HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) to provide security services, comprising guarding and alarm monitoring.

Curiously, OCS, who made their name as a cleaning company (Office Cleaning Services) lost out on the cleaning contract to Engie who will undertake pest control, waste management (and the cleaning) along with other FM services.

The HMCTS has invested in new contracts to deliver more time efficient, consistent and user-focused services across its sites. The two firms will start their respective roles on April 1. Their appointment comes after a year-long tender process.

OCS will work alongside the current service to mobilise the transition period. The contract will see the delivery of guarding, key holding, CCTV alarm monitoring and alarm response under a comprehensive security offering, in sites which are in constant demand and see heavy footfall.

Justice Minister, Chris Philp MP, said: “These new contracts will modernise and enhance the experience of all those using our courts and tribunals, delivering more user-friendly services.”

PTSG Completes Full Year Of Specialist Services At Dickens Yard

PTSG have recently completed a project at Dickens Yard in Ealing, involving several specialist services from its Building Access Specialists division.

The project is part of a contract which sees the Group’s engineers attend the site in west London four times a year to perform high-level window cleaning as well as the testing of ManSafe systems and anchor points.

PTSG Building Access Specialists Ltd often works in conjunction with the Group’s other business divisions, particularly PTSG Access & Safety Ltd. Specialists are trained in a variety of access techniques, including abseiling. This enables them to service every part of a building, whatever the specification or the challenge of the brief.

Polyteck Launches Systems To Reduce Electricity Usage

The Polyteck Group has introduced new technologies to its portfolio of services that will reduce client electricity usage and ensure greater operational reliability.

The SolarCool system can reduce client electricity usage for air conditioning or refrigeration by up to 60% while Polyteck’s new internet of things (IOT) network will highlight potential failures in mechanical & electrical (M&E) systems before they occur, according to the company.

The SolarCool system works by installing special solar collectors in-between the compressor and the condenser. The more daylight the SolarCool system gets, the less the compressor has to work as it allows the refrigerant flowing through the solar collectors to heat and so reduce the work the compressors have to do, as the refrigerant has already been preheated by the solar collectors, so reducing energy usage and the compressor run periods.

What makes the SolarCool system especially effective is how versatile it is in terms of implementation. It will work with all types of compressors, including scroll, screw, centrifugal, inverter or staged compression and the solar collectors do not need to be angled to face the sun.

Polyteck’s IOT network can connect a network of ‘dumb’ (without communication capability) but critical, physical M&E devices using specially developed sensors and a software system to connect and exchange data.

These devices can instantly let contract managers know via email and SMS when they are feeling ’unwell’ and therefore give an indication of a potential failure.

The bespoke dashboards with relevant alarms can be viewed anywhere in the world with an internet connection.

PTSG Shortlisted For Two Business Masters Awards 2020

The shortlist for the 10th Yorkshire Business Masters Awards has been revealed, with a wide range of businesses across the region being recognised for their achievements.

PTSG is on the shortlist for two awards: Large Business (251+ employees) and Fast Growth Business.

The shortlist was selected by an independent panel comprising business leaders across the Yorkshire and Humber region, including Ben Ormsby - Yorkshire editor of TheBusinessDesk.com.

Ormsby said: “We were overwhelmed by the quality and quantity of entries for this year’s awards. The judges had some very tough decisions to make over the shortlist, as the competition was extremely high.

“The achievements of all those shortlisted should not be underplayed as it takes a lot of time, hard work and entrepreneurial spirit - especially when we look at the economic backdrop of the last 12 months - to achieve what these businesses have.”

Winners of the awards will be announced at TheBusinessDesk.com’s black tie awards dinner on Thursday March 26 at The Queens Hotel, Leeds.

PTSG has made a strong start to 2020 with regard to awards. The Group is also shortlisted in two categories of the Construction News Specialist Awards 2020 for its bespoke access solutions delivered at One Blackfriars and The Scalpel in London.
