Capita has signed a £1.2billion 10 year, contract with O2 to run its Leeds, Glasgow, Preston Brook and Bury contact centres having reached an agreement with not to close any and to transfer 2,700 staff.

Capita and O2 go back 21 years when Cellnet (O2’s forerunner) partnered with Ventura which then became Capita Customer Management. The Cellnet operation went live with just 40 staff.

Earlier this year Capita and O2 signed a 10 year deal which will see Capita run and manage O2's customer service centres.

Croydon Council has signed a nine year deal with Capita’s secure information solutions business. This will provide an IT managed service. The deal is said to offer significant savings and includes renewing all the IT that supports the delivery of council services, the provision of ICT services including a new desktop solution, management of the Council’s voice and data networks including unified communications and the local area networks within council offices. It also includes a managed print service; a managed mobile service with new handsets, infrastructure services including the management of all servers within the council’s data centre, support for business continuity and disaster recovery, application support, training services and support for the Council’s adult social care system, ICT support for Croydon Adult Learning and Training (CALAT) and council members’ services.
