15 November 2019

Premier Technical Services Group has secured two lightning protection contracts plus a whole series of different works from some major names - illustrating Group companies' diverse range of skills.

In February 2019 it was announced that Amazon was set to build the new logistics centre near Durham. It is the retail giant’s second centre of its kind in the North-East – the first is a massive 1.5-million sq.ft fulfilment and distribution centre near Darlington. The new centre near Durham is even bigger still.

A contract for lightning protection has been signed between PTSG and ISG, a global construction services company specialising in fitout, technology, construction and development.

PTSG provides lightning protection services for a huge variety of structures, for clients in all industry sectors. As well as installing, testing, servicing and maintaining lightning protection systems, the Group also delivers surge protection and specialist earthing services.

The Group's specialist division is to provide services at the new Johnny Walker Experience building in Edinburgh. This is a multi-million pound development which will include a visitor 'sensory whiskey experience' - a whiskey tasting to in layman's terms.

22 Bishopsgate

PTSG is also currently providing specialist services at 22 Bishopsgate, London's newest commercial skyscraper under construction.

Engineers from PTSG Access & Safety Ltd are on level 62, at the top of the high-rise structure where they are installing a mansafe system.

While PTSG's four business divisions cover a diverse array of services, from fire and security solutions to lightning protection, what often unites them is the need to work at height.

Fire safe

PTSG installs sprinkler systems for both commercial and domestic buildings all over the UK. The company has been appointed to install a sprinkler system at a new residential development for the University of Leicester.

The scheme consists of seven residential student accommodation blocks for around 1,200 students, a 550-space multi-storey car park and other ancillary buildings. Engineers from PTSG Fire Solutions Ltd are due to start on site early in December, with the majority of works starting in the first quarter of 2020. The main contractor is Imtech.

White City

PTSG are currently installing an access system at White City Living in west London. Engineers from PTSG Access & Safety Ltd are on site working to install mansafe systems as well as designing and installing a bespoke abseil system at the new residential development.

Engineers from the division are also delivering a similar systemt to another exclusive new residential buildings in London, 9 Millbank in Westminster.

Multiplex

Engineers from PTSG Access & Safety are delivering specialist services at a new nine-storey, mixed-use scheme at 80 Charlotte Street in London having renewed their long-standing relationship with Multiplex to provide mansafe and abseil systems.

PTSG has worked with with Multiplex on a number of significant projects over the last few years including Aykon London One - a £240 million residential development situated in Nine Elms on the South Bank, and One Blackfriars in Bankside, London - also known as The Vase because of its unusual shape.

BMW - lightning strike three

PTSG has begun work providing specialist electrical services at the new press shop being constructed in Swindon for BMW.

The contract is between PTSG and King and Moffatt, mechanical and electrical contractors operating throughout the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe. Engineers from PTSG Electrical Services Ltd (West Midlands and South West branch) are installing lightning protection on the roof of the press shop, via tapes and air terminals; connections to steel columns throughout high level and around the perimeter at low level.

They are also installing a buried copper tape grid within the floor slab on the ground floor and basement levels which need to be coordinated with the ground workers and concrete pourers.
