Read Full ArticleEquans, a subsidiary of the Bouygues group, will continue to work with Manchester City Council on a newly extended FM contract.
The initial contract, signed in 2019, saw Equans providing responsive repairs and planned preventative maintenance across the council’s estate of 258 buildings. They were also responsible for repairing and maintaining Grade 1 and 2 listed buildings, including Manchester Town Hall. This deal has now been extended for an additional three years.
Equans will now assist the city council in its goal to reach net-zero by 2038, through a building retrofit programme, solar PV generation and a boiler replacement scheme. The energy used within buildings made up 69 per cent of the Manchester City Council’s direct CO2 emissions in 2018/19 and approximately 72 per cent of the citywide CO2 emissions.
Richard Carmichael, Managing Director for Local Authority Services at Equans UK & Ireland said: “This is a terrific opportunity for us to build on an already strong and successful partnership with Manchester City Council and draw on our broader expertise in decarbonisation to help the city of Manchester to reach its impressive zero carbon ambitions.
“Beyond service delivery, the partnership with Manchester City Council extends to supporting local priorities such as job creation, social welfare, and innovation. We are thoroughly committed to continuing to undertake social value activities across the region to help improve prosperity in the area; including employment opportunities and community fundraising.”
