Macro Signs Two New FM Deals With Surrey County Council

Macro Signs Two New FM Deals With Surrey County Council
14 March 2024

Macro will provide hard and soft facilities management services across over 600 Surrey County Council buildings.

The hard FM contract includes asset management, planned maintenance, reactive repairs, help desk services, utilities management, and strategic decarbonisation services across council buildings and offices in Reigate, Guildford, Woking, Leatherhead, Redhill, Epsom, Oxted and Uckfield. The contract will run for five years, with the option of an additional five-year extension.

The soft FM contract will run until 2026, with an optional two-year extension, and spans cleaning, security, waste management, and landscaping.

Both contracts stipulate that 70 per cent of the supply chain used to deliver the contracts must be local businesses, and 90 per cent of roles on the contracts must be delivered by local residents.

Net-Zero by 2030

Surrey County Council aims to become a net-zero council by 2030, and will replace its entire fleet with ultra-low or zero-emission vehicles. It has also pledged to install low-carbon heating across its estate, install solar PV on roofs and in car parks and reduce the business travel of its employees by 40 per cent by 2025.

Ross Abbate, CEO of Macro, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded these contracts to provide hard and soft facilities management services for Surrey County Council. We are proud to contribute to the creation of employment opportunities and small business growth, as well as to meeting the Council’s sustainability goals as part of these contracts.

“Having been appointed on two contracts simultaneously shows the quality of service that Macro is able to provide, bringing our global experience in the commercial world to benefit the public sector in local communities. We are committed to supporting the council so that it can continue to enhance its services to local people, people who work in Surrey and visitors to the region.

“We look forward to working successfully for the council to ensure the smooth running of its buildings in this special part of England over the term of the contract.’’

Councillor Natalie Bramhall, Surrey County Council Cabinet member for Property, Waste & Infrastructure, added: “The contracts with Macro will make the way we deliver facilities management much more innovative, while providing significant financial efficiencies. Macro is contracted to put the Council’s Net Zero Carbon targets at the heart of delivery and implement our sustainability objectives. We are pleased that Macro will provide over £10 million of social value in support of our ‘No One Left Behind’ ambition and support Surrey residents and the local economy by using a range of local sub-contractors based in the county.”
