Interserve Construction Reverts to Tilbury Douglas Brand

Interserve Construction Reverts to Tilbury Douglas Brand
03 March 2021 | Updated 19 April 2021

Interserve Group has announced the rebranding of its construction division to Tilbury Douglas.

Tilbury Douglas is the original name of Interserve, which was changed in 2001. The name change is part of the group’s repositioning, following on from Interserve’s disposal of its support service and facilities management division to Mitie Group last December.

The business will continue to focus on delivering building, infrastructure, engineering and fit-out projects across the health, education, justice, government and infrastructure sectors, primarily for public sector clients.

£500 Million Target

Tilbury Douglas is a well-known historical name in the construction and engineering sector, with a lineage dating back to the London and Tilbury Lighterage Company Limited in 1884.

Interserve group states that Tilbury Douglas has a strong order book and has begun the year well, with a number of significant contract wins in its core public sector markets of healthcare, education and civil infrastructure. It won more than £465 million of work in 2020 and this year expects for this to grow to around £500 million from a range of projects across the UK.

The company was also called upon to deliver the COVID-19 NHS Nightingale Hospital in Birmingham, completing the first phase in just 13 days and continued to deliver its critical infrastructure works throughout the pandemic.

Additionally, Interserve Group’s justice business, which consists of five community rehabilitation companies,  is being renationalised by the Ministry of Justice on 24 June 2021 as part of the UK Government’s decision to implement a new model of probation delivery.

Alan Lovell, Chairman of Interserve Group Limited, said: “The rebrand of the construction division to Tilbury Douglas will help to ensure it is best positioned for further growth across its public sector client base and has a distinct brand profile in the UK construction sector.

“We are focused on delivering the highest quality of service for our customers in our three core business areas and we remain confident of the outlook for the year ahead.”

Paul Gandy, Managing Director for Tilbury Douglas, added:

“We are delighted to announce our new brand, website and logo. Tilbury Douglas is a well-recognised historical brand in the construction sector and now represents our purpose of being a trusted construction and engineering partner, locally focussed and nationally strong, chosen for our commitment to customer needs.

With a dedicated regional network of offices and with an outstanding track record in delivering projects, we are here to help deliver for clients and communities – building a better future together.

Our highly experienced teams are proud to be trusted partners to NHS Trusts, government departments, universities, local authorities and private sector customers.”
