SEE Services - Solution Found For Solutions

SEE Services
23 August 2019

Week ending August 16 saw the announcement that Total Solutions, the specialist cleaning and maintenance company, had gone in to administration. On Monday, the administrator found a buyer - SEE Services.

The deal was concluded at 5:10 on Monday August 19 evening the administrator (FRP Advisory of St Albans) advised ThisWeekinFM.

Total Solutions had expanded greatly over the past two years under MD Sharmin Akter - adding in high access cleaning and security to the cleaning services offered nationwide.

The buyer

The purchase includes all equipment, staff (under a transfer), contracts and good will.

SEE Services is a trading company of SEE Rail Ltd that has been in existence for 30 years. SEE Rail and thus SEE Services is known as an M&E and hard FM services provider. SEE Services operates out of an HQ in Hainault, Essex with a UK-wide network that includes a substantial mobile capability.

Patrick Davey one of the directors told ThisWeekinFM that SEE Services had been in the market to buy or organically grow a soft services side to the business and thus the opportunity to acquire Total Solutions was too good to miss. He said: "Total Solutions was looking very attractive to a number of buyers - the company has some very good and very solid contracts and loyal employees at all levels.

"The spread of those contracts in terms of geographical location and mix of services offered are also attractive and will provide opportunities for us to promote the current SEE Services to Total Solutions' customers and of course, vice versa. We already have a national infrastructure to support those aims."

Too fast, too soon

An adviser to Total Solutions said last week said the company simply grew too quickly and borrowed too heavily but under different circumstances would have continued to be one of the rising stars of the FM business.

Staff saved

Patrick Davey continued: "Total Solutions has a fabulous brand and great contracts. The staff are not only loyal, they work incredibly hard and to tough standards. Not only am I pleased that we have picked up a bit of a bargain, we have also ensured all those staff will get paid at the end of the month and they have the prospects of continuing their careers in SEE Services safe hands."

All you can SEE

SEE Rail/SEE Services is 100 per cent privately owned. There are currently four specialist division. It is still to be seen if the new acquisition sits within one division or will sit as a fifth division in its own right.

Picture: SEE - the light has returned to the prospects of those who feared losing their Total Solutions' jobs.
