Highly Commended Awards

Dirk Talsma, Chair of Corporate Receptionist of the Year added, “This year the judges wanted to make three Highly Commended Awards from the ten finalists who attended the assessment day, because it was so difficult to separate each of them.”

The three Highly Commended winners were (in no particular order):

  • Lauren Ayres, Rapport at Citi: “I love the idea that receptionists are able to control the impressions of everyone who walks through the door; that they are able to make someone’s whole experience amazing, just by that first encounter.”
  • Imogen Walker, Anabas: “I was ‘meant’ to be a Corporate Receptionist rather than inspired to be one as I wanted to focus on making people smile, whilst taking pleasure from providing a high level of service to others.”
  • Lainey Taylor, Portico at Deutsche Bank: “I’m a people person who loves to see a smile on other people’s faces; I always remember great service and I knew I wanted to be the reason people smile and remember the impeccable service they receive.”

Each of the Highly Commended winners received a £50 John Lewis voucher provided by Award Partner, Proinsight, Dinner to the value of £100 in Robin Gill restaurant, Maria G’s, in Kensington provided by Riverstone and a one-hour career coaching session provided by Search.

The Judging Process

This year, each finalist created a short video which they submitted with their application and CV. Then on the final assessment day, they each had a traditional interview, followed by roleplay and phone play scenarios. For the first time this year, a group exercise was included so that the judges could score their behaviour as part of a team.

Bianca Talbot, Head of Judges, Chief Executive of The WOW! Awards said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for companies and front of house service providers to encourage, support and motivate their brightest and best receptionists. The calibre of finalists this year was extremely high and it is an inspirational competition for those looking to move into the sector and aspirational for those already in it.”

David Hopkins, Judge and Managing Director of Proinisght added: “As a judge, I thoroughly enjoyed meeting all ten finalists on the assessment day and was really impressed by their professionalism and enthusiasm. I am also delighted that Proinsight is also a partner, because this award is an important way to highlight the critical role that corporate receptionists have in creating an outstanding experience for clients, their guests and visitors.”
