GRAHAM has been awarded a major Building Fabric Repair & Maintenance and Minor Building Works contract by Sandwell Council.

The leading Midlands-based construction and facilities management contractor will deliver a range of repairs and maintenance to non-housing buildings and external areas, including minor capital works for new build, refurbishment, and alteration projects, across the West Midlands council’s expansive property portfolio.

Facilities and amenities, such as public buildings and associated structures, offices, schools, community centres and parks all fall under the scope of the contract.

"[We will continue to] work closely with the Sandwell community to maximise our social value impact, particularly through the creation of jobs and the provision of skills and training opportunities."

Development Across Six Towns over Four Years

Procured through Constructing West Midlands, the call off agreement covers a four-year term. It is a further extension of Sandwell Council’s successful long-term relationship with GRAHAM that stretches back to 2013.

Sandwell is a metropolitan borough in the Black Country, which is made up of six towns - Oldbury, Rowley Regis, Smethwick, Tipton, Wednesbury and West Bromwich. The council is responsible for the provision of services to over 325,000 residents.

Gareth Smyth, Operations Director for the facilities management division at GRAHAM, is delighted with the contract award and is looking forward to strengthening the partnership with Sandwell Council further over the next four years. He said:

“GRAHAM has established a strong presence in the Midlands, and we are particularly pleased that Sandwell Council has selected us to deliver this important Building Fabric Repair & Maintenance and Minor Building Works contract.

“Our partnership with Sandwell Council dates back to 2013, and this latest award is testament to the professionalism and consistent record of quality delivery by our West Midlands team. We will continue to collaborate with the council team and its stakeholders, develop and invest in our local supply chain, and work closely with the Sandwell community to maximise our social value impact, particularly through the creation of jobs and the provision of skills and training opportunities.”

Commenting on the selection of GRAHAM, Tammy Stokes, Interim Director of Regeneration & Growth, said:

"Following a competitive procurement process that assessed both cost and quality outcomes we felt that GRAHAM was the perfect fit for this important contract and we look forward to working with to help us to achieve our big plans, for a great place.”

Constructing West Midlands comprises a suite of OJEU-compliant, publicly owned and managed procurement frameworks and is a collaboration between Sandwell Council, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council and Acivico Limited (which is wholly owned by Birmingham City Council).
