New research from American Express shows almost two thirds (62 per cent) of Brits will be buying sustainable gifts this festive season
Buying sustainably during the festive period is even more important among the UK’s young adults, with over three quarters (77 per cent) of 18-34 year-olds buying at least one sustainable gift.
The top sustainable gifting trends in the UK include buying from sustainable or ethical brands (25 per cent) and buying from second-hand or vintage shops (18 per cent). A third (33 per cent) will be using recycled or recyclable wrapping paper (33 per cent).
Isabel Spence from Banner, recommends a 100% sustainable laptop bag made from recycled water bottles, such as the Blue Line range from Monolith.
The bag features a large internal storage capacity with multiple pockets and sections ideal for smaller items. Featuring a padded pocket for protection of your laptop, iPad or tablet measuring up to 17.2 inches, the briefcase has comfortable padded handles, an adjustable shoulder strap and a trolley strap to the rear.
Isabel also suggests a super high-quality headphone and microphone set that can be worn for Zoom calls but also for listening to music on the commute home, or outside of work hours, like the ADAPT 360.
Climeworks, a direct air capture company, is taking it a step further and enabling businesses to give the gift of carbon dioxide removal.
Climeworks uses direct air capture technology to remove carbon dioxide from the air. The carbon dioxide is then stored underground where it turns to stone through a natural process of mineralisation – making the removal completely permanent.
This gift is sustainable, permanent, unique and flexible; you choose how much carbon dioxide you’d like removed, or the amount you want to pay, and then the gift is delivered digitally on a date to suit you.
Each receiver gets a gift certificate which also gives you the possibility to share "your wish for the planet" on your social media channels. Simply buy the gift and send a QR code to them so they can claim their carbon dioxide removal. From that moment on CO2 will be removed in their name.

Climeworks offers three different levels of gift, so you can choose how much carbon you’d like removed in your recipient’s name or how much you’d like to spend:
Nordic Explorer Gift - £25
Permanently remove 27 kg of CO2 from the air
Lapland Discovery Gift - £40
Permanently remove 45 kg of CO2 from the air
Arctic Expedition Gift £80
Permanently remove 90 kg of CO2 from the air
If you're feeling particularly generous, you could apply for a place on the world-first Antarctic Climate Expedition in 2023.

This exclusive invitation is open to all that are interested, including thought-leaders in the fields of science, art, education and economics, alongside inquisitive teenagers and corporate executives to apply.
This climate summit expedition will explore the most spectacular and biodiverse wilderness regions of Antarctica.
