Geoff Prudence is an instantly recognisable leader in the FM sector, with a varied career spanning transport infrastructure, finance and the public sector.
Known for actively championing the need for effective maintenance strategies, workable designs and driving improved standards of delivery in the built environment, Geoff has led countless industry panels, boards and improvement initiatives.
He is particularly well known for his 21-year tenure as Chair of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) - Facilities Management Group, a position he is now standing down from, handing the reins to David Stevens. Instrumental in the development of the latest CIBSE Guide M, Geoff was the Lead Author of the M1 & M2 Maintenance Strategies section of the document.
Geoff is unique in being a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management. He is also a Member of The Institute of Directors and has many industry accolades including Silver Medal and being made an Honorary Fellow of CIBSE.
Geoff is also well known for developing people and has a passion for mentorship. Through founding the CIBSE Fellows Network, Geoff engages with an international network of senior leaders, who provide a proactive source of expertise for the next generation of CIBSE members.
We met up with Geoff to reflect on his time as Chair of the CIBSE FM Group, his career highlights and plans for the future.
