Tapei 101

Taipei 101 is a skyscraper in Taipei, Taiwan that has become the first of the world’s 10 tallest skyscrapers to attain WELL Core Certification at the Platinum level, the highest tier of WELL achievement for prioritising human health and wellbeing.

Standing at 1,667 feet high, the building was officially classified as the world’s tallest from its opening in 2004 until the completion of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai in 2010.

Taipei 101 achieved WELL Certification by earning 102.5 points, the highest score total to date among WELL Core projects worldwide. The project team received full scores for all strategies implemented under the WELL Air, Water and Innovation concepts. Already a LEED platinum certified building, Taipei 101 further cemented its position as a pioneer in both health and environmental sustainability.

Future Car Park

Located in the central CBD of Hangzhou, Future Car Park designed by Daniel Statham Studio is a vertical parking complex that combines automated parking technology with green public spaces.

At the basement level, cars are separated and taken directly to the lower parking zones within the basement or stack parking zones located in the towers. The automated parking system allocates a designated parking spot to each car based on the required parking time set by the driver, while continuously adjusting parking arrangements according to the estimated pick-up time for each car.

The driver can then request their car, which is then returned to them by the automated system from the towers to the “Collection Zone.”

The building has been described as a “Parking Oasis,” celebrating the harmony between car and city. The semi-internal quality of the building allows natural ventilation and daylight that significantly reduces the energy consumption from mechanical equipment to warm and cool the building. It also harnesses sunlight and storm water to irrigate and clean the building.

55 Pall Mall

A new office development located on Pall Mall in St James’s, London will target BREEAM Outstanding, EPC A rating and a WiredScore Platinum certification.

The development will see the construction of a new building comprising of a basement, ground, and seven storeys, with terraces at fifth, sixth and seventh-floor levels. Existing buildings are set to be demolished down to the basement level to make way for the new high-quality building, incorporating retail units and office accommodation.

The new construction will use Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) floor slabs, evidence of a focus on sustainable materials throughout. As a result, the upfront embodied carbon is expected to be below 550kg CO2e/m2, meeting the LETI/GLA 2030 target of 600 CO2e/m2. A very low level of operating energy is also targeted.

Tony O’Farrell, Operations Director at RED Construction London, said: “This key project at the heart of London’s Pall Mall is a prime example of RED Construction London’s expertise in reimagining iconic historical buildings for modern-day commercial use. The development of 55-58 Pall Mall and 1-4 Crown Passage will call on our team’s experience in the retention and restoration of heritage features, as we reinstate the building’s impressive façade. We are delighted to have been appointed and look forward to working with the brilliant team across this project.”
