Chris Stoddart FBIFM and a stalwart of the BIFM has tragically died. The Institute was informed of the news late last night. The circumstances of his death are unknown at this stage.

Awarded FM of the Year in 2011, not only did Chris achieve much professionally, he also played an active part within the Institute including roles with the Fellow’s Forum, WIFM, Rising FMs, People Management and sitting on BIFM’s Governance committee.

Julie Kortens, Chairman, BIFM, said "I was so incredibly sad to hear of the loss of Chris Stoddart who I have known for many years through his tireless work with BIFM but also as a trusted advisor. He will be missed by so many and my thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues."

Gareth Tancred, CEO, BIFM, said “I was extremely sad to hear the shock announcement about Chris. He had been a huge advocate for BIFM over the years. He was a very popular figure within the team at the Institute and with volunteers; he will be very sadly missed. Our thoughts at this time are with his wife Nikki and his family.”

A colleague's message

Tancred added: “I had spoken to him recently about his role as lead judge for this year’s FM of the Year category and he was extremely excited."

One of Chris' colleagues on the panel of judges for FM of the Year Award, Keith Glennister said at lunchtime today: "I will greatly miss Chris and the inspiration he had given to this particular Award. Having known him for several years, you could not have found a better professional and great colleague."
