Park Life - Dales Staff All Tracked

12 February 2015 | Updated 01 January 1970

Yorkshire Dales National Park has opted for a fully integrated payroll, HR and time and attendance system. It has chosen Carval Computing, a specialist supplier of fully integrated Human Resources HR Unity software, to be extended to its use in Time and Attendance (T&A) and HR modules.

The Yorkshire Dales Park Authority has been using Carval’s Payroll since 2012, and is now employing the system for HR administration for approximately 130 permanent staff, plus its governing committee of 22 members and seasonal employees.

The Carval T&A replaces a standalone system, which did not collect the required data or link to payroll. Now staff hours are fed directly to payroll, streamlining operations and improving accuracy. ??

Staff use Carval’s HR Unity Online Self-Service platform to check their outstanding leave and book holidays, which are then approved online by the managers. Managers can check absence records online and review trends of sickness and leave. Staff are also able to update their details online, ensuring that HR data is kept fully up to date.?

"We had been using Carval’s payroll software successfully for a couple of years since we brought payroll in-house for easier administration,” explained Hannah Clarke, Head of HR, The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority. “We now have a single source for all staff data, which reduces errors and saves time keying into different systems. We also have access to comprehensive and powerful reporting. These increased efficiencies have enabled us to provide a better service to our staff, with fewer resources.”
