Reducing Vehicle Speed Related Accidents

09 October 2015 | Updated 01 January 1970

The new Geokontrol from AutoKontrol has been designed to cut vehicle speed to as low as 6mph in geo-fenced delineated areas.

The system works by pre loading the unit with Geo-Fence data which can be refined to cover any area as small as distribution centres or as large as a multi-hectare municipal refuse site, or even a whole town centre.

Any diesel vehicle/wheeled plant with an electronic throttle is suitable and AutoKontrol has a nationwide network of engineers able to fit the speed limiter at the client’s premises.

On entering a geo-fenced site the Geokontrol equipped vehicle instantly has its speed reduced to the site limit and on leaving it, the speed reverts instantly to its normal road-legal speed. The Geo-Fencing can be extended to cover any number of locations and in all cases will transfer the responsibility for speed control from the driver to the unit.

Suitable locations for this equipment include distribution/transport depots, landfill sites, airports, seaports, quarries, bus/coach stations where workers and other pedestrians can come into deadly contact with vehicles.

Another benefit of Geokontrol is a reported reduction in vehicle maintenance/repair costs as a result of cutting excessive vehicle speed over rough ground in landfill or quarry sites.
