Read Full ArticleIs it time you thought about booking your ticket for BIFM's ThinkFM conference which the Institute claims will help you prepare for the next two years?
The BIFM says ThinkFM, in London on May 1, will be packed with alerts, insights and suggestions; forecasting on Brexit; debates on how to escape the lowest cost tendering spiral; what you need to know about big data; and how automation will have an impact on FM jobs. All the key issues facing FMs will be analysed so that they can choose how to respond.
The full programme for the event is now live on the BIFM website - with two streams running concurrently as there is so much to get through.
The morning’s keynote speaker will be Vicky Pryce who will not only forecast the impact of Brexit and look at how to solve the productivity conundrum but will frame the need for a new model for public sector procurement and ask how companies can really respond to the social responsibility expectations of the new CCS framework.
Pryce will be followed by Ed Hudson, Head of corporate services at UBS who will look at the impact of Carillion on clients and whether we can expect a major push for in-sourcing now.
Jeremy Waud will opine on the need to grow up and stop the race to the bottom, while George McFarlane of CBI will explore what will follow PFI.
Big Data and the rise of the robots
Will companies be employing data analysts instead of facilities managers in future? How will automation impact on jobs and costs? Given the potential of growth in data systems to revolutionise the work of FMs, two whole sessions have been devoted to the impact of AI and big data at the conference.
Workplace trends
Colleen Conklin will preview of the outcomes of Sodexo’s recent Global Workplace Trends report at the start of a session on the opportunities of workplace and the skills needed to take advantage of them. Delegates will also have access to a masterclass from Despina Katsikakis on the impact of the workplace on people and business performance and an explanation of how to engage workers in changes to workplace design.
The international opportunities for FMs
As part of BIFM’s contribution to World FM day there will be a session for anyone who outsources internationally. Ross Abbate of Mace Macro will explain how to deal with different business cultures when outsourcing across borders and Ed Baldwin will introduce delegates to a system for gathering data to evidence their contribution.
The How-To sessions
A set of practical sessions have been added to help delegates put plans in place straight away to implement the strategy decisions they have made as a result of the conference.
