AECOM is a global provider of professional technical and management support services to a broad range of markets, including transportation, facilities, environmental, energy, water and government. The company employs around 45,000 worldwide and has recently been voted one of the world's most ethical companies by the Ethisphere Institute.

A Fortune 500 company, AECOM serves clients in more than 140 countries and has a revenue of $8.2billion.

Curiously, given its abilities, AECOM has just signed a three year deal with Bilfinger Europa, worth £4million, to provide facilities management services.

Bilfinger Europa will deliver mechanical and electrical maintenance, cleaning, fire protection, waste management, ground maintenance, recycling, fabric and special projects for three years to offices in the UK and Ireland.

Approximately 100 staff will 'TUPE across' to continue working at 36 sites ranging from Aberdeen to Exeter to Belfast.

More about AECOM

The Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee has unveiled a new concept design for Al Wakrah Stadium, a host site for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The concept design is by AECOM in association with Zaha Hadid Architects, and is said to reflect the sea-faring heritage of the Al Wakrah community and captures the essence of the traditional dhow, an Arabian pearl fishing boat.

The stadium will have a gross capacity of 40,000, with modular top-tiers, allowing the capacity to be lowered to 20,000 after the tournament.

Early project on Health Facilities Scotland Framework 2

AECOM’s cost advisor team has been appointed to provide cost management services to NHS Dumfries and Galloway for its Capital Programme for Property and Asset Management 2013–2020. This potential 7-year programme centres on the existing Infirmary campus alterations as NHS Dumfries and Galloway gears up for the delivery of its new Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

The appointment is part of the new Health Facilities Scotland (HFS) Framework 2. The four to six-year NHS framework has a predicted annual project spend of £100m across NHSScotland throughout the duration of the framework. AECOM was appointed on all of the framework’s five consultant services lots and is providing cost advisor, project management, lead advisor (building surveying), supervisor and CDMC services.

Sustainable urban development in Malaysia

AECOM announced in March that a joint programme in which it participates has signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a centre of excellence, named the Greater Kuala Lumpur/Klang Valley Sustainability Centre (GKLKVSC), to advance sustainable urban development in Malaysia.

AECOM, along with the Federal Territory Foundation, and with support from the country’s Ministry of Federal Territories and government advisory group InvestKL, will work to enhance the area’s livability by pulling together resources from the public and private sectors.  The centre will aim to fast-track research as well as test and deploy commercialised products and consultancy services in order to enhance the quality of life across Klang Valley — with the objective of creating opportunities that will benefit Greater Kuala Lumpur’s economy.

About the Federal Territory Foundation

The Federal Territory Foundation provides services and specialised assistance to the underprivileged in Malaysia by working to improve their standard of living.  The foundation actively participates in sustainability development by leading certain development activities and providing housing, construction and environmental services in the federal territory of Kuala Lumpur.
