Pride Month 2023 – Events for Your Diary

Pride Month 2023 – Events for Your Diary
02 June 2023

Looking to attend an educational Pride Month event this June? ThisWeekinFM has produced a collection of professional events to help businesses learn how to build a more inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.

The month of June commemorates the Stonewall riots, which occurred at the end of June 1969 and is widely thought of as a key moment in the gay liberation movement. As a result, many pride events are usually held during this month to recognise the impact LGBTQ+ people have had in the world and to encourage inclusive environments for all.

Let’s take a look at some of the Pride Month events available for businesses.

Pride in the Built Environment – 7 June

The RICS Pride in the Built Environment event on Wednesday, 07 June 2023 from 12:30 – 16:00 BST will be hosted at RICS HQ in London in collaboration with Building Equality, BuildOUT California, Freehold and LGBT+ in FM as well as the internal LGBTQ+ network at RIBA, and Pride in RICS.

This event is fully supported by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the Landscape Institute.

RICS will host an afternoon of constructive conversations on how leaders can influence wider inclusion efforts beyond their organisation and to learn what both professionals and organisations can and should be doing to establish habits and behaviours that create more inclusive cultures in the workplace.

Panelists and guest speakers include Sharon Slinger FRICS  Founder, LGBT+ in FM, and Owner and Director of Constructing Rainbows, Colin Kimber, Operations Director at Pareto FM and Kat Parsons, Head of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging at ISS.

Absent Voices from the LGBTQ+ Movement – 29 June

If you’re looking for a training session to suit the whole team, Inclusive Employers are running a webinar on intersectionality in LGBTQ+ spaces.

While activism in the LGBTQ+ rights movement has never been stronger and louder, the movement is lacking a diverse range of voices. As any group of individuals, LGBTQ+ people are intersectional beings and to be a truly inclusive and liberating movement, there needs to be an uplifting of LGBTQ+ people and voices from all different backgrounds, especially those at the margins – including people of colour, disabled people, trans people and others.

This webinar is hosted by Ariel Chapman, I&D expert from Inclusive Employers.
