McArthur Business Solutions is a strategic management consultancy that embeds within an organisation to better understand and implement its core values. With over 20 years of experience in operational FM and PFI management its expertise covers all aspects of the built environment. We spoke to the owners Brian and Cameron Rogers about its history, USP, and some of the challenges facing the FM industry.
Brian Rogers came into the FM industry after serving for 23 years in the British Army. It seemed to him to be “a natural progression to bring the skills and talents that he’d had instilled into him” to the sector, such as his initiative and decisive ability. Cameron was originally working in finance for a major car dealership, but ended up joining forces with his father in order to provide a more comprehensive array of services for a project at the Royal London Hospital.
The Future of FM
Cameron has noticed the reactionary nature of current FM may be holding the majority of the industry back. “[The industry] doesn’t seem to use the data at [it’s] disposal correctly in my opinion” he said, for future-proofing and proactive business. Last year, a DMA group study found that more than two-thirds of facilities management professionals said they felt confident knowing where smart tech could save money, time, and improve service delivery quality. Yet, only over a quarter reported that their organisation’s FM and property teams are unlocking the full advantages of smart technology in process automation.
Cameron speaks of his financial experience and how related institutions only make decisions based on all the available data – they set the example that embracing analytics when providing services will improve success rates. Brian agrees, adding that we need to be adaptable to move with clients’ progressive visions, and have transparency from frontline work through to leadership.
“We give every client large or small 100 per cent effort and time to ensure their money, project, and initiative are done to the very highest standards and best of our ability."
– Brian Rogers
