Read Full ArticleArk Data Centres has bought Renault Retail Group’s West London site on Western Avenue, Park Royal to create an energy-efficient data centre powered by renewable electricity, occupying one of the most sought-after locations in London.
The building is the existing 92,000 square foot showroom which has been the retail home, head office and workshop of Renault since the 1930s.
The acquisition is part of Ark’s overall plan to lead the data centre market by dramatically reducing emissions by up to 80 per cent in key locations.
The purchase of Park Royal follows the recent announcement of Ark’s new leading London facility in Union Park, Hayes which will also be solely powered by renewable energy opening early 2022. It will also contain living walls and gas generators, entirely eliminating the use of diesel.
Ark Data Centres CEO Huw Owen said: “Ark is delighted to have been able to acquire this site from Renault Retail Group. Our customers have an expectation for us to be both socially responsible, as well as provide best-in-class, market-leading data centres in the locations where we can have the greatest impact.
This new exciting acquisition of Park Royal, our third in London, not only supports Ark’s own sustainability commitments but also empowers the customers we serve by helping them to honour their own carbon reduction goals”.
The Park Royal site, due to begin construction in 2022 will open new opportunities to Ark’s customers that require the scale, proximity and network advantages of a city-based facility but who are firmly committed to a responsible sustainability agenda.
