Asbestos in Soil Conference

11 July 2014 | Updated 01 January 1970

The previous focus of asbestos research and practice has dealt with the management of asbestos contamination within buildings. However, results from thousands of investigations at contaminated sites across the UK have found that asbestos is frequently identified in ‘made ground’ and there has been ambiguity in the approach to assessing the risk it poses.

This conference – Asbestos: understanding and managing asbestos risks in soil – will examine occurrence, assessment and modelling issues of asbestos in soil, review recent environmental, health and safety and waste legislations and provide an update on current practice and research.

The conference has been designed for clients, house builders, consultants, contractors, local authorities and regulators with expert speakers.

The conference takes place on 2 October 2014 CIRIA offices, Griffin Court,15 Long Lane, London EC1A 9PN as well as in Edinburgh on 10 September 2014.
