Getting a Kick and Champagne

06 June 2014 | Updated 01 January 1970

Office solutions company CMD held one hell of a shin-dig last night to celebrate its 30th anniversary. Cocktails flowed like wine as did the beer and curiously...the wine.

The special guest for the evening was Taekwondo Olympian Sarah Stevenson MBE who shared her moving and inspirational story - mum and dad diagnosed with cancer before winning at the world championship and both parents passing away before the Olympics. Sarah fought back from her personal tragedy and an injury so severe she could barely walk four months before taking Bronze. And being chosen to recite the Olympic oath at the opening ceremony.   www.sarahstevenson.net/

“My personal journey is well documented but I feel extremely lucky to have been loved, supported and inspired by the most amazing people. And, despite going through some extremely difficult times, I was taught never to give up and always strive to be the best I can be. It’s great therefore, to see a British manufacturer’s such as CMD applying the same values. The last couple of years have been difficult for everyone but with 30 years' of experience and expertise, CMD have remained positive,” wrote Sarah before the event.

Sarah also performed a Taekwondo demonstration using audience members who were foolish or drunk enough to take a (protected) kicking.

The Rotherham based company provides technology to enhance workspaces with well-designed accessories and ergonomic solutions such as monitor arms, cable management solutions, energy management, power modules and office lighting control solutions.

CMD sources local materials and expertise – 72% of its suppliers are UK based companies, and only 12% of its purchasing goes outside the EU.
