The Building Futures Group & Facilities Show Autumn Golf Day 2014 was a rip roaring success writes Charles Oakley of UBM - organisers of the Facilities Show. On the same day that Team Europe started the successful defence of the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles in Scotland, the Building Futures Group & Facilities Show Autumn Golf Day 2014 at Essendon Country Club, had justifiable cause for congratulating itself.

With the maximum allowance of 72 players representing over 40 companies registered to play on the day, and with eight commercial sponsors supporting the day which included This Week in Facilities Management, the scene was set and the weather ordered for the largest facilities management golf day of the year.

The weather and the swings got better as the day went on and it was the championship winning teams from De-ice and Grundon Waste Management that were setting the early pace.

The eventual team winners were from De-ice, helped by having the winning individual player on their team – Scott Bambridge from Image Office Cleaning playing off a handicap of just 4, winning the individual competition with an impressive 41 points.
