It all Comes in Cycles

Apex Lifts is collaborating with cycle storage company, EcoCycle in creating eco-friendly technology to improve and secure the cycling storage network around the country.

With 80,000 bikes being stolen each year, the EcoCycle storage system has been designed to create a secure, practical and environmentally friendly parking unit for cyclists.

Originating in Japan, EcoCyle has two storage products, a revolving cylinder and a vault system and the units can be built into the piles of tall buildings. Both alternatives offer a maximum capacity of 204 bikes with an average retrieval time of 13 seconds.

Apex is supporting the EcoCycle project by manufacturing components and constructing the units in the UK. The first EcoCycle fully working demonstrator model in the UK is located between Southwark and Waterloo stations in London with plans to expand across the country.

“It’s vital for all businesses to take responsibility for protecting and sustaining the environment,” explained Warren Jenchner, MD, Apex Lifts. “EcoCycle is an exciting project for Apex Lifts and we’ve pledged to reduce our own carbon footprint and are delighted to be able to help others do the same.”
