Leadership – Workplace Prog and Academy

20 October 2017 | Updated 01 January 1970

The British Institute of Facilities Management has entered into a partnership with 3edges to launch a Workplace Leadership Programme to be delivered through the BIFM Academy from the first quarter of 2018.

The foundation for the development of the Workplace Leadership Programme is based on research by 3edges  and the Workplace Advantage report (produced by The Stoddart Review), which highlighted the importance of the workplace as a strategic lever for organisations;

The Workplace Advantage report demonstrated:

  • A growing awareness of the workplace as an often-unrealised strategic lever to business performance.
  • Recognition that more needs to be done in terms of workplace awareness and understanding.

BIFM commissioned 3edges to undertake research into what ‘workplace’ means for the FM profession. This highlighted:

  • Workplace provides opportunities to reconsider the FM profession’s enabling function to business performance.
  • ‘Workplace’ is not synonymous with ‘strategic FM’ – it is about thinking and acting differently.

Linda Hausmanis, Chief Executive, at BIFM said: “BIFM understands the impact of the workplace on organisations.  By ensuring that the opportunities which space, culture and technology present are considered throughout the lifecycle of a facility, FM has a significant influence on how the workplace can evolve.  BIFM has a responsibility to encourage and support our members and organisations in its awareness of the workplace. The programme that is being created is about building future capability in the drive to increase productivity and organisational performance”

An Executive Summary of key findings from the workplace research will be available to BIFM members in November.

Academy

Cloudfm has launched a new specialist training centre as part of its drive for continued growth. The Cloudfm Academy is a purpose built facility and includes an engineering suite, featuring the typical appliances and systems found across client estates.

All Cloudfm staff will have the opportunity to pursue their career goals at the training centre, helping to build confidence, increase knowledge and nurture innovation. The Academy offers industry specific training opportunities across a range of technical, interpersonal and leadership topics – with classroom based courses developed in partnership with the British Institute of Facilities Management along with hands-on, practical training delivered in the engineering suite. In addition, the facility acts as a central hub for the company’s Apprenticeship programme.
