According to The Sun Daily in Malaysia, FM company AWC Bhd is considering buying-in to the telecommunications and healthcare industries in the region. The company holds a 10-year concession from the government to provide comprehensive facility management services to government buildings as well as to the private sector including commercial, educational and industrial buildings.

The Sun Daily Datuk reports that MD Ahmad Kabeer Nagoor has said the firm is focusing on more non-government work and is open to joint ventures and acquisitions. He said the company is trying to move away from relying on government concessions lone to ensure its sustainability. He told reporters after Friday's AGM: "We are being very cautious but evaluating several proposals. We have yet to make a decision."

The Sun Daily also reports that 'AWC's facilities division made its cornerstone foray into the local healthcare sub-segment involving provision of biomedical and facilities engineering maintenance services in Hospital Rehabilitasi Cheras last year.

'In the commercial sector, the facilities division also secured new contracts to extend integrated facilities management services to telco stores and outlets of Celcom Axiata Bhd and the new Heriot-Watt University Malaysia Campus in Putrajaya'.

Kabeer Nagoor also said the company will take a view on its environment division which provides design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of an automated pneumatic waste collection system under the proprietary brand of STREAM with on-going projects in Malaysia, Singapore and Middle East. "This is the one that we think we want to take a cautious outlook on going forward for 2015 and 2016," he said.
