Second Contract for ESS

25 July 2014 | Updated 01 January 1970

Aberdeen based ESS has worked with Dolphin Drilling since 2007, delivering food and housekeeping services on board the Belford Dolphin. A second contract, which commenced at the beginning of last month, will see the ESS team provide catering and hotel services to 180 people across seven levels of accommodation on board Dolphin Drilling’s new deepwater drillship, the Bolette Dolphin.

Ronnie Kelman, Business Director, ESS Offshore, said: “Due to our performance onboard the Belford Dolphin and our long standing relationship with Dolphin Drilling, we are have been awarded a contract providing catering and hotel services onboard the Bolette Dolphin. We offer a great service in a challenging environment.”

Graeme Murray, MD, Dolphin Drilling, added: “We selected ESS as our catering and support services partner for the Bolette Dolphin because we have an excellent relationship and they have proven their performance on the Belford Dolphin.”

Dolphin Drilling is a trading name for Fred. Olsen Energy. Fred. Olsen Energy ASA was formed in 1997 as an amalgamation of all energy related activities affiliated to the Fred. Olsen companies.

The offshore fleet of Fred. Olsen Energy ASA with subsidiaries (the Group) consists of two ultra/deepwater units and five mid-water semi-submersible drilling rigs in addition to one tender support vessel and one accommodation unit. Three of the semi-submersible drilling rigs are operating on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. In addition, one ultra deepwater drillship was delivered end of February 2014. The Group has one other newbuild under construction, an ultra deepwater semi submersible for harsh environment scheduled to be delivered in 3Q 2015. Both units are built at Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd.

The ship yard Harland & Wolff, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, was purchased by Fred. Olsen & Co. in 1989. From being a larger scale ship yard during the 1900s, the yard is now focusing on ship repair, steel fabrication and engineering services as well as providing services for activities related to offshore wind farms.
