Team & LEAN - Event Bookings Blossom, New Venue Chosen

19 September 2013 | Updated 01 January 1970

The Team & LEAN event, scheduled for October 17 has become so popular that the organiser, Des Fulcher (pictured) has had to change venues. The new location is Towcestrians Sports Club, Greens Norton Road, Towcester, NN12 8AW.

Says Fulcher: “I think this is going to be a good event but even I’m staggered by the number of people who continue to book. It could be that there's no cost for delegates to attend or it could be the programme of events really has captured the imagination.

What is Team & LEAN?

Fulcher explains: “This concept has been created for UK facilities management and cleaning professionals as a fusion of Team Cleaning and LEAN process development in conjunction with the launch of the National Institute of Cleaning Education which will focus on networking online and face to face for both of the aforementioned industries, and at the same time bring an industry first rating system for products, services, businesses and adult education.

”Team Cleaning has been widely utilised by service providers in America for several years. This helps companies achieve increased operational efficiency, create and maintain healthy environments, gives increased productivity, reduces training time and most importantly improves employee morale.

”The most skilled of employees fail in a confused, disorderly organisation relying on individual performance. Yet, even the mediocre employees can excel in an orderly, focused, systematised culture.”

Trending

Continues Fulcher: ”LEAN is an emerging trend in facilities management - the core idea is to maximise customer value while minimising waste. Simply, LEAN means creating more value for customers with fewer resources.

”Eliminating waste along entire value streams, instead of at isolated points, creates processes that need less human effort, less space, less capital and less time to make products and services at far less costs and with far fewer defects, compared with traditional business systems. Companies are able to respond to changing customer desires with high variety, high quality, low cost and very fast throughput times. Also, information management becomes much simpler and more accurate.”

Only for manufacturing

A popular misconception is that LEAN is suited only for manufacturing. “Not true,” says Fulcher. “LEAN applies in every business and every process. It is not a tactic or a cost reduction programme but a way of thinking and acting for an entire organisation.

”Team & LEAN is bringing innovation and education for facilities management and cleaning professionals, presenting the very latest ideas, products, software and services for business owners or individuals at senior management level.

”Keynote speakers include people with experience working at management levels, delivering LEAN principles and processes both upwards and downwards at major blue chip FM companies such as OCS, MITIE and Rentokil Initial - with a free rein to discuss this positive way forward, which most major companies are already taking an active interest in or making serious plans to implement.”
