Thighs The Limit For Waste & Cleaning Contractors

20 October 2017 | Updated 01 January 1970

HQ Theatres & Hospitality (part of the Qdos Entertainment Group, is looking for maintenance and front of house staff to employ directly. The firm is also looking for a new contract cleaning supplier.

HQT&H has 10 contracts with local authorities to run 18 auditoria in 12 venues ranging from 2,400 capacity concert halls to 200 seat community arts centres.

Thus the commercial cleaning contract will be let two years for a variety of entertainment spaces, offices, front and back of house will all need to be maintained by the successful cleaning provider.

Ann Summers

Helistrat, has renewed its contract with lingerie retailer Ann Summers. The firm has  managed waste and resources through increased recycling, waste recovery and the prevention of any waste going to landfill.  The next challenge for the business is to drive down the amount of waste being produced by using Helistrat’s ‘designing out’ process. Rather than just emptying bins, it is all about stopping them being filled. This route not only reduces the cost associated with waste disposal but also improves environmental credentials, and ultimately brand reputation.

As you can imagine, Ann Summers produces less than ordinary waste which creates an unusual challenge when it comes to managing it. An electrical and battery recycling service is in place for customers to return any electronic sex toys, regardless of brand, to any store for recycling. Although waste is being generated here, the scheme encourages the materials to be put back into the process to be broken down and re-purposed.

Nationwide Window Cleaning on acquisition trail

Nationwide Window Cleaning (NWC), the UK’s largest window, gutter and high level cleaning business is on the acquisition trail.  The first significant purchase is a Midlands based window cleaning business, Reflekt Cleaning Company Ltd. Thornton Tasker, CEO said: “The Nuneaton base will be beneficial to our clients in the area.   Integration into the NWC brand will not be rushed, so will be smooth and seamless."

In addition to offering a full range of window cleaning services, Reflekt provides high level cleaning and dusting, duct cleaning, canopy and roof cleans; cladding, fascia and gutter cleans in all workplaces including commercial buildings, colleges and factories.

Progress Cleaning – retains pole position

Lee Hewett, South of England Supervisor and employee for 20 years, was runner-up in the Window Cleaner of the Year Award organised by the FWC.

Fulfilment Centre

TC Facilities Management has won a multi-service contract at a Fulfilment Centre close to Milton Keynes - but as is often the case with TCFM - they aren't allowed to give the clients name.  The contract will see over 70 staff from TCFM deployed to provide cleaning, security and catering.

Over 2,000 staff work on the site, managing orders 24 hours a day. The contract commenced on Monday October 16.

Contract worth in excess of £4 million UKWSL has renewed their contract with Roadchef, one of the UK’s most largest operators of motorway service areas who serve over 50 million customers each year.

The renewal sees UKWSL in charge of Roadchef’s waste and recycling services in 22 of their key sites for a further 5 years, a contract worth £4.5 million over the period.
